Lawyer (barrister). Educated at Malvern School, Hunters Hill, Sydney., University of Sydney. BA 1927 and Queens College, Cambridge, MA Canterbury; called to Bar (Inner Temple) in 1930; travelled extensively in Europe; practised in New South Wales 1931 - 1937. Delegate to United Nations general assembly 1963, and 1969; member of parliamentary delegation to East Asia in 1965; delegate to 7th general assembly in Asian Parliamentary Union, Cambodia in 1971, leader of Australian delegation to Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference, Malawi in 1972; Australian representative in Malawi republic celebrations.
Military Service
Served in 2nd Australian Imperial Forces 1940 -1944, 2/3rd Australian Infantry Battalion, 6th Division; Greece, Syria, New Guinea, lieutenant.

Member of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia. Member of the House of Representatives for Bradfield 1952 - 1974.
Personal
Son of Basil William Turner, metallurgist, and Mabel Lily Breillat. Married Mildred Mary Raymond at Mosman on 4 July 1931 and they had 3 daughters and 1 son.
