Biography
Qualifications, Occupations and Interests - Robyn Parker entered the NSW Legislative Council ‘class of 2003’ with a credo inspired by her children of ‘keeping it real’. She has brought with her a wealth of experience in the childcare sector, small business and education.
Before entering Parliament, Robyn was instrumental in setting up and pioneering groundbreaking childcare programmes in both Victoria and NSW and initiated a number of rural outreach programmes in these areas – many of which still operate to this day. She has successfully managed several small businesses, has been a political adviser in campaign roles and in the Federal Parliament and has also taught at TAFE.
As an active member of the Liberal Party, Robyn served as State Vice President (1997-2000) and was President of the NSW Women’s Council (2000-2003). As the head of the Liberal Women’s Forum, she passionately supported the training and mentoring of women in all levels of Government and initiated the Pathways to Political Leadership Programme. Robyn is the former editor of the Liberal Times magazine.
In her Parliamentary roles, Robyn is the Chair of General Purpose Standing Committee No.2, which has held a number of inquiries, including the Operation and Management of the NSW Ambulance Service, the Bullying of Children and Young People, the Program of Appliances for Disabled People and Health Impacts of Air Pollution in the Sydney Basin.
Robyn is the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Aboriginal Affairs and is Chair of the NSW Opposition’s Hunter Taskforce. Robyn is also a board member of the Australian Institute of Policy and Science and a member of a number of Parliamentary and community organisations.
