Qualifications, occupations and interests
Saddler. Stockman in Tumut district, learnt saddlery trade; established business in Junee in 1886; lost eye in 1896, retired from business and established a dairy farm; became an executive officer of the Riverina branch of the Australian Workers Union for many years. Member of first Junee Progress Association.
Local Government Activity
Alderman at Junee from 1894 until 1931, mayor in 1899, 1906 until 1909, 1920 until 1921.
Personal
Son of George Hoad, bricklayer, and Mary Ann Unstead. Married Harriett Bougher on 19 September 1883 and had issue, 1 daughter and 4 sons. His son, Kenneth Oswald Hoad, was a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Cootamundra 1925 - 1932. Buried in Junee cemetery with Church of England rites.
