Marrickville Soldiers' Memorial and Protestant Children's Home, Dulwich Hill; Parents and Citizens' Association for twenty years; president of New South Wales Protestant federation from 1920 until 1925

Son of Thomas Ness, shipbuilder and Scottish migrant, and Isabella Sellars. Married Bertha Mary Ann Matuschka on 1 January 1898 in New Zealand and had issue, 3 daughters and 1 son. Presbyterian. Funeral at Rookwood crematorium.
