Qualifications, occupations and interests
Building contractor. Educated at Wagga Wagga public school; carpenter by trade; moved to Maitland in 1900, became a builder on own account in 1908; director of Maitland Starr-Bowkett Society ; helped to found Maitland Police and Citizens' Boys' Club; associated with number of sporting organisations; after retirement sponsored a Western Suburbs Progress Association
Local Government Activity
Councillor of Bolwarra Shire from 1926 until 1932. President for one term.
Personal
Son of Walter Arthur Howarth, bootmaker, and Elizabeth Ellen Peet. Married Edith Letitia Margaret Langlands on 3 February 1906 at Lidcombe and had issue, 3 daughters and 2 sons. Presbyterian. Funeral at Beresfield crematorium from Mackay Memorial Presbyterian church at Rutherford.
