Arrived in Parkes at an early age with parents; engine driver on quartz crushing batteries and water main construction; lost an eye in accident; established a bakery in 1903; sold out in 1910 and established a bakery in Bogan Gate; engaged in stock and station agency as Kearney and Keast and on own account from 1914 until 1918; farmer at Bogan Gate, Trundle and Parkes, executive member of Hospital Association of New South Wales; chairman of Parkes District Hospital Board; Good Templar; Sunday School teacher.

Alderman at Parkes from 1925 until 1931, 1933 until 1938, Mayor from 1929 until 1930; member of Local Government Association.

Son of Robert Keast, carter, and Mary Jane Gregg. Unmarried. Methodist. Funeral at Parkes cemetery from Methodist church.
