Community Activity
Foundation President of the Sound Finance League of Australia in 1933. Member of the Aborigines Protection Board (from 1940, the Aborigines Welfare Board) from 1936 until 1945. Executive Director of the Society for Providing Homes for Neglected Children from 1945 until 1964. Secretary of the Gunning Pastoral, Agricultural and Industrial Society. Founder of the Gunning Amateur Dramatic Society. Branch Secretary of the Primary Producers Union and Graziers Association.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Dairy farmer, grazier and auctioneer. Educated at Stanmore public school and Newington College. After leaving school, became a dairy farmer at Coraki, buying a grazing property at Gunning in 1916. Was also a stock and station agent and auctioneer, later owning a motor garage. Contested the seat of Goulburn in the 1941 elections; and the seat of Hawkesbury in the 1944 elections for the Democratic Party. Freemason. Methodist lay preacher, Gunning circuit

Son of George Edward Ardill, evangelist and social worker, and his wife, Louisa Wales, evangelist. Married Emma Booth on 7 June 1911, and had issue 1 son and 5 daughters. Funeral at Northern Suburbs Crematorium with Baptist rites.
