Commissioned as a Justice of the Peace in 1911
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Bushworker, miner and barber. Educated to primary level; left school at age 12, did a run on a coastal vessel trading to the islands; bushworker, shearing and tanksinking in Monaro, miner c.1888 until 1896 in Victoria then Broken Hill, and 1896 in Cobar; lost an eye in an accident, established a tobacconist and barber shop; foundation member of the Australian Workers Union; helped to organise the Cobar branch of the Amalgamated Miners' Association, member of Cobar Hospital committee, of Cobar Race Club, School of Arts, and of Eight Hour Day Sports Committee; assisted to found the Far West Health Scheme, Manly; author.
Personal
Son of James Davidson, tailor and Scottish migrant, and Margaret Moore, Irish Migrant. Married Gertrude Mary Snape on 14 July 1901 at Cobar, and had issue 3 daughters and 1 son. Roman Catholic. Northern Suburbs Roman Catholic cemetery.
