Woolbroker. Educated at the Church of England Denominational School, Parramatta. Queensland miner 1863; clerk and auctioneer for T. S. Mort & Company and by 1883 became a partner and managing director of Mort & Company. Continued as director when firm amalgamated with R. Goldsborough & Company in 1888; Director Commercial Union Assurance Company and Sydney Exchange Company, Waratah Coal Company and Australian Mutual Providence Society.
Personal
Son of Henry Kingsmill Abbott, gaol official, and Martha Ann Lefroy. Married Margaret Ann Bennett in 1866 and they had 3 daughters and 6 sons. Wesleyan Methodist.
