Qualifications, occupations and interests
Schoolteacher and farmer. Educated at Girrinderra and Goulburn; joined Education Department in 1900, taught at various country schools until 1917; proof reader of Goulburn evening Post after 1927; farmer and grazier at Carcoar and Mandurama districts; retired to Pennant Hills in 1950's; active in anti-conscription campaign from 1916 until 1917; author in 1924

Son of John Loughlin, police constable, and Sarah Jane Ffrench. Married Louisa Davis on 16 April 1906 at Cowra and had issue, 5 daughters and 2 sons. Roman Catholic. Funeral at Field of Mars cemetery from St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church at Thornleigh.
