United Australia Party (UAP). First stood for Parliament while a member of the All for Australia League, elected as endorsed United Australia Party candidate.
Qualifications, occupations and interests
Insurance manager. Educated at Maitland privately and Hawkesbury Agricultural College; gained pastoral experience on uncles station in Western Australia; joined Queensland Insurance Company in 1912, became a manager in Launceston, Tasmania in 1912; at Madras in India in 1915; manager of New India Assurance Company, Calcutta 1920 - 1926; travelled extensively in Europe 1926 - 1927; returned at Australian manager for Century, British Oak and Liverpool Insurance Companies Group 1927 - 1930, retired; actively associated with Returned Serviceman's Leagues, Parents and Citizens' Association, surf life saving clubs; director of Eastern Suburbs Hospital; executive member of vice president. All for Australian League.
Military Service
Served with Indian Army until 1918.
Personal
Son of Robert Waddell, Clerk of Petty Sessions, and Martha Ann Smith. Married Ella Wallingford on 2 October 1920 and had issue, 1 daughter and 1 son. Funeral at Rookwood crematorium from St Jude's Church of England, Randwick.
