Lawyer (barrister). Educated at Sydney Grammar School and University of Sydney., BA in 1886, MA 1888; articled to Allen and Allen, solicitors, qualified but did not seek admission; called to Bar in 1892, practised in Equity Court; owned property near Gosford; active in conscription campaign from 1916 until 1917; strong supporter of 6 o'clock closing; Australian Club.

Personal
Son of Thomas Loxton and Lucinda Jane Forster. Married Jane Rosa Marshall in 1891 and had issue, 2 daughters and 3 sons. Funeral at Gore Hill cemetery from St Stephen's Presbyterian church in Phillip Street, Sydney.
