Joined Australian Infantry Forces 1914, 13th Battalion, severely wounded at Gallipoli, invalided home, returned to active service in 1916, invalided home in 1917. Instructor of Signal Engineers' School in 1918, Aide-de-Camp to State Commandment General G.Ramacioitti, lieutenant

Son of William John Everingham Smith, farmer, and Margaret Alicia Small. Married Evelyn (date unknown). Funeral at Point Clare cemetery at Gosford. Church of England.
