Journeyed to Melbourne in 1867 and became an undertaker at Brunswick and a cabinet maker at Richmond. Returned to Sydney c.1874. Bankrupt in 1894 and discharged in 1895. Chairman of Working Men's Defence Association in New South Wales 1870s. Freemason. Worshipful Master of Southern Cross Lodge. Orangeman. Member of Temperance Orders; associated with Good Templars. Rechabites and Women's Christian Temperance Union.
