Housewife and racehorse breeder. Farmer and grazier. Educated at St Mary's College, Bathurst; as a singer organised entertainment for troops 1914 - 1918 and 1939 - 1945; managed grazing property Canowindra after husband's death, breeder and owner of racehorses.
Daughter of Albert Rice, wheat farmer. Married Gerald Blake Rygate on 7 February 1923 and they had 1 son. Gerald Rygate was also a member of the Legislative Council. Roman Catholic.
