Qualifications, occupations and interests
Farmer or grazier. Landholder at Yamba in the Clarence River District. In 1876 was described as a hard working settler. Selected 200 acres but lost his land. Previously held Glenreagh running cattle. Quarantine keeper, Bradleys Head in 1878.
Personal
Son of Thomas Laycock, storekeeper, hotel keeper and pastoralist, and Margaret Connell. Married Mary Jane Simpson on on 1 February 1843 at Sydney and had issue, 2 daughters and 2 sons. Church of England.
