Educated De La Salle College, Armidale and University of Sydney., PhC 1923; established a pharmacy in Tamworth in 1926, later extended to other centres in Northern New South Wales; director of Country and City Permanent Building Society from 1968 until 1974; part interest in a Tamworth hotel; director of Tamworth Base Hospital from 1946 until 1970; president of Tamworth Jockey Club from 1942 until 1945, 1952 until 1961; keen sportsman; Rotarian; author in 1961.
Son of William John Cahill, schoolteacher, and Ada Radford. Married Grace Daley at Ballina on 17 June 1925 and had issue, 1 daughter. Brother of James Edward Cahill (q.v). Roman Catholic. Funeral at Tamworth Evergreen Lawn Cemetery from St Nicholas' Roman Catholic church.
