Qualifications, occupations and interests
Lawyer (barrister). Educated in public schools. Entered the public service as a clerk in the Public Library then as a junior clerk in Colonial Secretary's department in 1879; left in 1885 to study law in the office of George Knox; called to the Bar in 1887; specialised in criminal law; trustee of Kurnell Park; racegoer and racehorse owner.

Personal
Son of Robert Gannon, coach proprieter, and Agnes Conley. Married Florence Elsie May Jackson on 18 January 1889 and had issue, 1 daughter and 1 son. Funeral at Woronora cemetery with Methodist rites.
