Report: Review of the Exercise of the Functions of the Lifetime Care and Support Authority and the Lifetime Care and Support Advisory Council—First Report

Debate resumed from 6 May 2009.

The Hon. CHRISTINE ROBERTSON [2.30 p.m.]: I thank the individual committee members, the Deputy Chair the Hon. David Clarke, the Hon. John Ajaka, the Hon. Greg Donnelly, the Hon. Amanda Fazio and Ms Sylvia Hale for their continued and effective work on the committee. I also recognise the work of the secretariat. The Standing Committee on Law and Justice takes on some very complex questions, and although some questions may be perceived to be routine they often contain complexities. The work of the committee in relation to the Lifetime Care and Support Authority and the Motor Accidents Authority may also be seen as somewhat mundane but issues come forward and invariably they can be addressed, often as a result of the diligent and highly intelligent secretariat: Ms Merrin Thompson, Mr Simon Johnston, Miss Madeline Foley, Mr Sam Griffith and Ms Christine Nguyen. When so much work is put into a committee it is very important to see its recommendations come to fruition. It is with much pleasure that I see recommendation No. 1 before the House. I congratulate the committee on the work that has made that so.

Question—That the House take note of the report—put and resolved in the affirmative.

Motion agreed to.
