by leave: A remark which I made at the Government briefing on Tuesday has caused offence. It involved two members of the police Minister’s office. I advise the House that I have written to the two women involved in the following terms:
This letter is to offer you my unreserved apology for comments made at Tuesday’s crossbench meeting. These comments were inappropriate and I sincerely regret any offence they may have caused either yourself or your colleague. I do not intend to cast any aspersions on either yourself or your colleague and I will make certain that I do not make any such comments in future.
