JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS

The Hon. R. T. M. BULL: My question without notice is to the Attorney General, and Minister for Industrial Relations. Is the Attorney proposing to appoint to the judiciary another of his former colleagues at H. B. Higgins Chambers, in this case Max Taylor? Will this be the third appointment from chambers with only seven barristers? How does the Attorney justify this personal preference to his old chambers and his political preference for Labor lawyers?

The Hon. J. W. SHAW: Max Taylor has been appointed as a New South Wales magistrate. I believe it is a fantastic appointment. A man of greater intellectual integrity and compassion one could not possibly imagine. His is a fantastic appointment and I am very proud of it.
