POLICE ADMINISTRATION

The Hon. I. M. MACDONALD: I direct my question without notice to the Minister for Justice, Minister for Emergency Services, Minister Assisting the Premier, and Vice-President of the Executive Council. In the light of the Minister's statement on Tuesday concerning two incidents of Police Service correspondence to the Ombudsman citing his alleged failure to make a decision on forensic tests as causing investigative delay, will the Government immediately establish an inquiry into whether there are further examples of this form of extraordinary misinformation being presented by police to the Ombudsman or other inquiries?

The Hon. E. P. PICKERING: That question really should be referred to the Minister representing the Minister for Police in this House. For the information of the honourable member, he must realise, and this matter was referred to in my speech to the House, that all these investigations are oversighted by the Ombudsman.
