ABORIGINES IN CUSTODY
The Hon. Dr MEREDITH BURGMANN: My question without notice is addressed to the Minister for Health and Community Services, representing the Minister for Justice. Does the Minister recall that seven weeks ago I asked him a question about the disproportionate representation of Aborigines in New South Wales prisons? At that time did the Minister promise an answer as soon as possible? Can he now please tell the House what the Government is doing to address the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody about institutionalised racism in the prison system?
The Hon. J. P. HANNAFORD: I recall the honourable member's question. I am surprised that an answer has not been conveyed to her. I will find out the reason for that and make certain that the honourable member gets an answer.
