This inquiry was established on 10 June 2005 to inquire into and report on the possible regulation or registration of the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine with particular emphasis on quality assurance issues, the feasibility of a National Registration System and the approaches to the regulation and registration of the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in other jurisdictions.

This inquiry was self-referred. Resolution passed 10 June 2005, Minutes No 20, Item Number 5
The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Health Care Complaints Commission is to inquire into and report on the possible regulation or registration of the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine with particular emphasis on:
- Quality assurance issues concerning regulation or registration including: formal complaint handling and disciplinary procedures; quality and uniformity of training; accreditation; continuing professional education; and grandfathering provisions;
- The feasibility of a National registration system;
- Approaches to regulation and registration of the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in other jurisdictions;
- Any other related matters.
