Ms Rhiannon to the Minister for Health representing the Minister for Education and Training—
- What percentage of students in New South Wales public schools attend scripture, broken down by:
- School year?
- Denomination?
- What types of activities are undertaken by students who have elected not to attend scripture during the time when other students are attending scripture?
- What is the Minister's position on offering students who have elected not to attend scripture to partake in well-designed courses in ethics, comparative religion or philosophy?

- Has the Department of Education and Training (DET) or the Minister received any requests from parents, Parents and Citizens (P&C) or the P&C Federation for ethics, comparative religion or philosophy courses to be taught as an alternative to scripture?
- If so, how many requests have been received and what has been the nature of their request?

- Has DET or the Minister received any requests from churches to retain the status quo regarding scripture and non-scripture arrangements in the New South Wales public school system?
- If so, how many requests have been received and what has been the nature of their request?
- Would the Minister support a comprehensive survey of parents in the New South Wales public school system asking whether they support ethics, comparative religion or philosophy courses to be taught in the public school system as an alternative to scripture?
