0119—HECTOR MCWILLIAM DRIVE SPEED LIMIT
Mr Andrew Constance to the Minister for Water Utilities, Minister for Small Business, Minister for Regional Development, and Minister for the Illawarra representing the Minister for Roads—
Will the Minister instruct his department to reduce the speed limit on Hector McWilliam Drive as it approaches Tuross Head, from 60 kilometres per hour to 50 kilometres per hour as requested by the village neighbourhood watch group and supported by the Eurobodalla Shire Council as per a letter sent to the Minister by my office of 15 March?
Answer—
I am advised:
The Local Traffic Committee did not support a reduction in the speed limit on Hector McWilliam Drive.
The existing speed limit on Hector McWilliam Drive is considered appropriate for the existing road environment and consistent with speed zoning guidelines for similar roads that serve as a collector road between destinations. Therefore the RTA has no plans to institute changes at this time.
