| Description | After the foundation of the Library in 1840 the first Legislative Council's book collection was added to but not catalogued until after 1843 when a Librarian was appointed. The appointment led to the creation of the first Catalogue, a manuscript volume. Manuscript catalogues were produced from time to time, apparently as preparation for printed catalogues. These catalogues were always arranged alphabetically by author, and some were annotated to indicate the physical location of the books. |
