Description	Even though it is generally agreed that the Library was founded in 1840, there was no separate administration of the collection apart from the general administration of the Council. This state of affairs changed in 1843 when a Librarian was appointed and space for a Reading Room was allocated; from this time the autonomy of the Library was now reflected in its records. This volume describes the general state of the Library's accounts for this period. It gives the date; description (eg purchase of books); amount; and total amount.
