Police Station Staffing

Mr SOURIS: My question without notice is directed to the Minister for Police. Following the Minister’s recent decision to abolish authorised staffing levels at individual police stations, will he assure country communities that local commanders will not deploy police from small police stations to regional centres, thereby leaving small communities with nothing but an authorised empty police station?

Mr WHELAN: The deployment of police is a matter for the Commissioner of Police and local area commanders.
