Disputed Claim of Privilege
The PRESIDENT:
On 28 June 2004 the Clerk received from Ms Lee Rhiannon a written dispute as to the validity of a claim of privilege on documents lodged with the Clerk on 21 April 2004 relating to Axiom Education Consortium. According to standing orders, Sir Laurence Street, being a retired Supreme Court judge, was appointed as an independent arbiter to evaluate and report as to the validity of the claim of privilege. The Clerk released the disputed documents to Sir Laurence Street, who has now provided his report to the Clerk. The report is available for inspection by members of the Legislative Council only.
