The Hon. JAMES SAMIOS: My question without notice is directed to the Minister for Industrial Relations. Will the Minister outline to the House what action he or his department has taken to ensure that the Department of Public Works and Services is complying with New South Wales employment and work safety laws? What action has been taken to ensure that its subcontractors have workers compensation insurance and abide by occupational health and safety regulations? Further, what action is the Minister taking to ensure that the Department of Public Works and Services is not allowing illegal industrial action on sites it is administering?
The Hon. JOHN DELLA BOSCA: That seems to be two separate questions. The first part of the question relates to a very serious matter. I have had a number of conversations with the Minister for Public Works and Services about occupational health and safety, and industrial relations issues conducted by the Department of Public Works and Services. The best way to deal with the honourable member's question is to confer with the Minister for Public Works and Services and then provide him with a written account of those matters. In regard to illegal industrial activity, I am not aware of any specific incidents.
