a. Places on record and expresses its deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the bushfires which recently devastated the State of Victoria.
b. Offers its sympathy to those who have been affected by the fires whether through injury or the loss of their property and personal effects.
c. Acknowledges the ongoing contribution of the fire fighters and those engaged in the recovery effort, including those who have travelled from New South Wales to assist in these efforts.

1. Notes the inadequate parking adjacent to the Hornsby Railway Station despite the station upgrade under the Clearways plan.
2. Notes the claim that, in the face of the need for many more car spaces, there will be 70 extra car spaces when the project is completed.
3. Notes that this claim is a gross misrepresentation because it fails to take into account the concurrent loss of car spaces in High Street, Hornsby.
4. Condemns the Government for ignoring the needs of commuters coming to Hornsby Railway Station and not building a multistorey car park when Hornsby is a major transport hub.

1. Ensure the Health Care Complaints Commission investigated complaints about Dr Graeme Reeves;
2. Investigate why he was employed at Bega and Pambula Hospitals when there was an order that he not practice obstetrics;
3. Ensure his contract was not terminated immediately the restrictions were discovered; and
4. Protect the dozens of women whom Dr Reeves subsequently treated.

1. Condemns the Minister for Transport for failing to ensure adequate Transit Officers on the South Coast rail line resulting in the alleged rape of a forty year old women travelling in the 6.30am train from Wollongong to Unanderra.
2. Condemns the Minister for Transport for allegedly failing to ensure that there were any Transit Officers on the South Coast line either last weekend or this weekend.
3. Notes that the communities of the South Coast and Illawarra have lost confidence in the Government’s ability to provide safe, clean and reliable rail services to the people of New South Wales.

1. Encourages Members on both sides of the House to support Great Australian Bite Month to increase awareness of diabetes in our community.

3. Congratulates and thanks all the staff at the diabetes unit at Nepean Hospital.

1. Notes the continuing public opinion, including over one thousand petition signatures, that Hornsby urgently needs a centre where local residents can attend to undergo haemodialysis.
2. Expresses concern that Hornsby area residents are expected to travel to Concord or Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals to undergo haemodialysis spending extremely long hours away from their families.
3. Acknowledges the outcry in the Hornsby electorate for the establishment of a public haemodialysis centre in the Hornsby area.
4. Urges the Government to immediately allocate funding to establish such a centre to alleviate the suffering of people who require regular haemodialysis.

1. Congratulates the Premier on the $6M package for the expansion of early intervention services for children with autism, including an autism-specific child-care centre in Western Sydney.
2. Notes that the number of children diagnosed with autism in NSW is on the rise.
3. Notes that the earlier intervention in a child’s life is provided, the bigger the difference that intervention can make to help children with autism reach their full potential.
4. Acknowledges that the $6M package addresses these issues and will provide a welcomed boost to early intervention services.

4. Calls on the Government to explain why it ignored numerous and persistent requests to have a public inquiry into the acquisition of Hornsby Quarry.

3. Calls on the Speaker to clarify the existing policy and indicate possible policy changes to ensure that the confusion which occurred on Tuesday 1 April 2008 is not repeated in future.

1. Condemns the Government for its plans to abolish 18 regional domestic violence prevention positions and replace them with 9 project officers located in New South Wales police.

3. Notes that accessibility to support services for women suffering domestic violence will suffer as a result of this policy.
4. Calls on the Government to stop the abolition of these crucial regional violence prevention specialist positions.

That this House:
1. Notes ongoing community concern about the diminution of community health services, especially mental health services within the Hercules Street precinct.
2. Notes the Government’s public attempts to cover up this loss of services.
3. Calls on the Government to reinstate the services that have been taken away at that site since 2004 and to ensure that no future services will be lost.

That this House:
1. Notes that 2007-08 marks the 75th anniversary of the Great Ukrainian Famine – the Holodomor of 1932-1933, caused by deliberate actions of the Stalin Communist regime of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
2. Recalls that an estimated 7 million Ukrainians in the constituent Ukrainian Soviet Republic starved to death as a result of that regime’s policies in 1932-1993 alone, and that millions more lost their lives in the purges which ensued for the rest of the decade.
3. Notes that this constitutes one of the most heinous politically inspired genocides in history and that this Ukraine famine was one of the greatest losses of human life in any one country in the 20 th century and moreover remains insufficiently known and acknowledged by the world community and the United Nations as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian nation and her people as has been recognised by the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine).
4. Honours the memories of those that lost their lives.
5. Joins the Ukrainian people throughout the world and particularly people of Ukrainian origin and descent here in New South Wales in solemn commemoration of those tragic events.
6. Urges the New South Wales Government to join the Federal Government in supporting a resolution to be put to the United Nations General Assembly, that the Holodomor 1932-1993 in Ukraine be recognised and acknowledged as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian Nation and her people.

3. Demands that the Premier show some integrity and answer basic questions about New South Wales taxpayers’ money.

Congratulates the Federal Government on its commitment of up to $4.7B to build a high speed, open access, fibre based National Broadband Network which will deliver minimum speeds of 12 Mbps to 98% of Australian homes and businesses and provide significant benefits for rural and regional New South Wales.
2. Condemns the previous Federal Government for its Opel Network deal which would have locked rural and regional New South Wales into an inferior broadband system.
3. Congratulates the current Federal Government for cancelling the contract.

1. Notes that the Tumut Hospital will be left with just one obstetrician to handle a workload of around 80 deliveries between April and October.
2. Notes the Rural Doctors Association blames a lack of Government support for rural GPs for the present shortfall.
3. Notes that too many doctors are giving up procedural practice because of burnout and the failure of Governments to recognise the unique skills and expertise of rural doctors.
4. Notes that obstetrics and other services at Tumut Hospital will be put under severe strain and are at threat of closure as a result.
5. Calls on the State and Federal Governments to intervene to address the issue of problems faced by practitioners of medicine in Tumut.

1. Notes with alarm the incident where a 13 year old boy almost fell to his death through a roof skylight at Galston High School on Sunday 27 April 2008.

4. Calls on the Government to immediately fast-track the installation of a security fence around Galston High School to assist with the prevention of vandalism and break and enter or the possibility of serious injury.

2. Notes that police numbers in The Hills Local Area Command, far from increasing in line with population increases, have in fact fallen from 115 to 101 since the last State Election.
3. Notes that The Hills has just one general duties police officer per 3851 residents compared with a State average of one to 1103.
4. Notes that, as a consequence, a Hills general duties constable has to deal with 603 incidents a year compared to a State average of 394, and that this is having a major impact on response times, clear-up rates and proactive policing.
5. Calls on the Government to immediately provide the 21 additional officers the Police Association says are the minimum number required to keep The Hills community safe.
